Nominaciones Óscars 2023: Everything Everywhere All at Once lidera con 11 menciones
En una mañana que únicamente puede ser descrita como inesperada, Allison Williams y Riz Ahmed dieron a conocer las nominaciones a los Premios Óscar 2023. Y, oh boy, sí que se presentaron sorpresas.
Everything Everywhere All at Once lideró las nominaciones con 11 menciones, incluyendo mejor película, dirección, actriz para Michelle Yeoh, actriz de reparto para Jamie Lee Curtis y Stephanie Hsu, actor de reparto para Ke Huy Quan, guion original, edición, vestuario, banda sonora y canción original. En las menciones le siguieron All Quiet on the Western Front y The Banshees of Inisherin, ambas con nueve nominaciones cada una.
Estas dos películas también aparecen en la categoría principal acompañadas por Avatar: The Way of Water, Elvis, The Fabelmans, TÁR, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness y Women Talking. Precisamente sobre esta última película vale la pena mencionar su casi completa omisión, únicamente apareciendo en mejor película y guion adaptado. Su atractivo elenco quedó fuera de las categorías de actuación, su banda sonora fue ignorada y Sarah Polley quedó fuera de mejor dirección. Esta categoría, volviendo a sus días tradicionales, queda constituida por puros hombres con nominaciones para los Daniels, Martin McDonagh, Steven Spielberg, Todd Field y Ruben Östlund.
Entre las sorpresas de la mañana destacan la nominación más que merecida para Paul Mescal por Aftersun, la nominación milagrosa de Andrea Riseborough por To Leslie, la presencia de Brian Tyree Henry en la categoría de mejor actor de reparto por Causeway y The Quiet Girl figurando en la categoría de mejor película internacional.
Por su parte, entre las decepciones están la categoría de mejor actriz, pues tanto Viola Davis como Danielle Deadwyler quedaron fuera para dar espacio a Ana de Armas y ¿Riseborough o Michelle Williams?; la falta de presencia femenina en la categoría de mejor dirección, la omisión de Babylon en mejor película; el completa olvido de Decision to Leave, especialmente en la categoría de mejor película internacional; y la pobre actuación de Bardo (solo una nominación en mejor fotografía).
